Ciudad Cuihuahua to Cuauhtemoc - Page 7

As the train approaches Cuauhtemoc, one begins to realize the fun is just beginning.

About mid-morning the train pulls in Cuauhtemoc, named after a mighty Aztec warrior king.

A modern Mexican city, Cuauhtemoc is really the entrance to the Sierra Madres and the last city of any size you will find until you get to the end of the line at Los Mochis.

Cuauhtemoc is modern Mexican city with all of the amenities and probably the last outpost on the east-west train route more part of the modern world than the realm we are entering.

The vendadores at the Cuauhtemoc station will offer you bottled water and food as tasty as any served in the dining cars on the train.

The vendadores who approach the train will sell you refreshments and hot food for very reasonable prices, $1 for a canned drink, $1 for a delicous burrito.  I bought a bottle of ice cold water from this man.
