Cuauhtemoc to Divisadero - Page 5

As the train approaches Cuauhtemoc, one begins to realize the fun is just beginning.

The Tarahumara mostly live in caves during the winter months, but in warmer months they have log cabins, such as this one, and other modest forms of housing for farming and ranching.

A modern Mexican city, Cuauhtemoc is really the entrance to the Sierra Madres and the last city of any size you will find until you get to the end of the line at Los Mochis.

The device you see the retreating conductor holding is a small fare calculator used to charge the many local people who board the train at both scheduled and unscheduled stops.  It even prints a receipt for them.
