As the train approaches Cuauhtemoc, one begins to realize the fun is just beginning.

Whatever the exact number of feet to the bottom of the canyon, no one who stands here fails to be impressed with the natural splendor of the Barranca del Cobre. 

 

A modern Mexican city, Cuauhtemoc is really the entrance to the Sierra Madres and the last city of any size you will find until you get to the end of the line at Los Mochis.
