These were my seatmates, who never saw me more than two
minutes at a time during the daylight hours: Norma
Beatriz Corrales Vasquez and Abraham Alejandro Alvares.
The window seat was originally mine, but I been gone so
long I guess they decided to use it. I had no objections.
These are two remarkable Americans, Oscar and Chris Newton, who happen to be brothers as well as fellow adventurers. Oscar is a teacher in Chicago, and Chris is studying law in Colorado. We talked off and on throughout out the trip. These two have backpacked across Mexico and through South America and should no doubt publish their own travel web site. They also make up their own minds about the peoples they encounter, and it was great to meet two more Americans who not only respect but actually like the other people in the world.
By now it was nightfall, and there was nothing to do for
the next several hours except visit with people and try
to get some sleep, if possible.
