First Class Train to Ciudad Chihuhua, Mexico - Page 12
The food in the first class dining car is just fine but nothing to get excited about. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and a coke, and this is what I got. It was delicious, but I had to check back four times before I could even get a table in the first class dining car, and the cost with a tip was almost $10 for a hamburger and fries. At least on the second class train, the microwave sandwiches were pretty tasty, and there was no waiting. If you just have to have the appearance of luxury in which to eat, I can recommend the First Class train. If you don't mind riding the train for three more hours at night and eating just to stave off hunger I would recommend the second class train for half the price.
This is George and Kylene Turner of Davis, California. I thought they made a perfect "happy couple" picture and asked them if they would pose as such, to which they readily agreed. Turns out George is a real estate broker who also enjoys doubling as a professional photographer. He has a web site at www.turnerz.com. The same smiles you see on their faces here are the same ones I was to see every time I passed through the dining car that morning. They were planning some side trips, and I sure hope (maybe begging a little) they will contribute some photos and maybe an article about their experiences.
