Many of the settlements in the canyons have 100s of full time inhabitants.  The Raramuri, however, are usually not found in large clusters such as this one, preferring to break into smaller family groups and dwell in caves during the winter months. 

 

Some of the beautiful pines you will see on your railroad trip are beginning to appear on the hills in the background.
