Copper Canyon Travel
First Class Train to Ciudad Chihuhua, Mexico - Page 25
By the time the train stops in Creel, when riding from
Los Mochis, the daylight portion of the journey is almost
complete.
Travelling at night is not altogether a bad thing, however, when you encounter such wonderful people as Professor Enrigue Córdova and his wife, Elisa Rivera Arroyo. Professor Córdova teaches law at the university in Mexico City, and his patience with my poor Spanish was absolutely amazing. He understood everything I attempted to say and never even blinked when I said it in a stupid sounding way. The professor's Spanish was like the Spanish one reads in books, the kind of Spanish one attempts to learn from books. Elisa was equally gracious, and I believe meeting these two individuals was one of the nicest experiences of my Copper Canyon vacation. I have his address and intend to write him. Professor Córdova said he did not use the internet very much but promised to check out this article. I hope they both find time to do so.
These are their friends, Alberto Serna Méndez and his wife, Teresa. I did not get to talk to them very much. By the time we were introduced, the great train ride was ending with our entry into the station in Ciudad Chihuhua, where it had began for me just a few days before.
Unforgettable, indeed... |
