Copper Canyon Travel
Brief Stay in Chihuahua, Mexico - Page 2

The next morning, however, things began to look up immediately after finding the Cafe Merino at Avenidas Juarez and Campo in Ciudad Chihuahua.  I recognized the restaurant immediately as one of those great diners where you can have a hearty egg and bacon breakfast such as this one for less than $3---just what I had become accustomed to in Ciudad Juarez.  This entire meal was only $5 with the tip.  After another shivering night between the sheets the hot coffee really hit the spot.

In keeping with my practice of featuring the people I encounter in my articles, this was my waitress, Yareth Ramírez Domínquez.  She is a Chihuahua native who was interested in where I came from and what I was doing in Mexico.  When I told her about the Copper Canyon article and asked if she would like to have her picture published, her smile would have lit the room.  It was a truly warm, beautiful smile.  Then like many people do, once confronted with the camera the smile disappeared...:)  (No matter, we'll get a better picture when I return.  Thanks for the great service, Yareth!)
