Brief Trip to Puerto Topolobampo, Mexico - Page 4
We passed by the harbor master building, a sporting arena, and a power plant on the way out of town, all things Jesus took it upon himself to show me. He asked if I was enjoying my vacation. I said I was and asked him where he liked to go on vacation. He replied that in recent years he had not been able to go anywhere, because had two children, one of whom was a daughter in college, adding "muy cara" (very expensive). He even drove me by the Institute of Technology where she was attending. He said he had never used the internet, but that his kids both loved the internet.
We had definitely broken the ice, and I found myself really liking this good hearted jovial taxista. True to his word, he took me to Walmart and waited for me to shop. It was very busy, and he must been out there almost another half hour. Then he dropped me off at the hotel. A deal is a deal, and he did not ask me for any more money. So I gave Jose de Jesus Acosta Rocha a total of $30 for his efforts. He earned it. His original price had been just about right. With a handshake, I bid him farewell, giving him my business card so perhaps one day his daughther can show him this article.
